Singapore
The English name of
Singapore is derived from the Malay word Singapura
which means “Lion City”. Singapore is a Southeast Asian City-State
located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. There are about 5 million
people living in Singapore, of which 3 million are Singapore citizens. The population
density is 7,300/km2, ranking in as the 3rd most dense
nation in the world. Singapore prides itself on multiculturalism with four
official languages; Chinese, Tamil, Malay and English.
