Singapore
The English name of Singapore is derived from the Malay word Singapura which means “Lion City”. Singapore is a Southeast Asian City-State located off the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. There are about 5 million people living in Singapore, of which 3 million are Singapore citizens. The population density is 7,300/km2, ranking in as the 3rd most dense nation in the world. Singapore prides itself on multiculturalism with four official languages; Chinese, Tamil, Malay and English.

The currency of Singapore is the Singapore dollar (SGD). 1 Canadian dollar = 1.27170 Singapore dollars. Frequently used denominations are the $2, $5, $10, $50, $100 and the $1000 banknotes. Coins come in the 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents and 1 dollar.
